I dreamed I was hanging out with thee Michelle Obama! I was talking to her about how I had written a couple of sermons and when I was about to present one at an event the event was cancelled. I then proceeded to explain that it was about our growth. Like that of a mustard seed, and the various stages the plant itself actually goes through.
When seeking God you are growing but sometimes it doesn't look like it because we don't see the growth above ground yet. But we fail to realize that the roots are underground and that is where the growth is taking place. Things grow down before they grow up! The root system has to develop and the foundation has to get grounded before the plant emerges from being hidden to visible. Then it blooms for all to see and then the fruit appear.
But all while this is happening the gardener is tending to his crops, his plants. Pulling invasive weeds that appear to stunt the growth of his plants. The gardener is pruning unnecessary branches that grow from the plant which can divert the growing energy from key parts of the plant. Causing the plant to focus its energy on parts that it does not need. Sound familiar?
Parasites, bugs and animals may come feed off the fruit or what the plant has produced as if they put in the work to cultivate this plant. Its only after the plant has produced fruit that they feel they can partake in the fruits of the gardeners labor. without so much as watering or pruning the plant, even feeling entitled to the first fruits even before the master gardener because its in their area and they watched it develop from a distance from seed to fruit. Sound familiar?
They were watching the growth but didn't care about the work that went into cultivating that plant, those crops. In fact they may have wondered why the gardener even bothered with turning the soil, planting the seed, weeding the beds, pruning the plant, or watering it constantly day in and day out. Because what they didn't know was that the master gardener was preparing the crops/plants for how they would help feed, sustain and nourish his family, his children, his town, or his nation. All of that was necessary not just for the gardener but for the people, his people, his assignment.
So if your in a hidden season being pruned, fed and developed, God is preparing you for your purpose. Your growing and you may have been hidden, those gifts and talents within you may have been hidden and you may not have emerged yet but in due time your fruit will come!
